Publisher Tim O'Reilly has published the result of a phone conversation with Jeff Bezos, conducted because of a letter he received asking about Richard Stallman's call for a boycott of Amazon.com.

Amazon.com has raised the ire of the industry for patenting affiliate programs and, earlier, "one-click" ordering.

Update (9 March): Bezos has published some commentary on the issue of patents at http://www.amazon.com/patents/

and says "the more I thought about it, the more important I came to realize this issue is. I now believe it's possible that the current rules governing business method and software patents could end up harming all of us.."

Jeff and Tim plan to work together on lobbying for patent system reform (yes, and Tim wrote another followup).
