Last week, Adobe announced its latest upgrade to the digital imaging behemoth that is Photoshop. Photoshop 7.0 claims to include vital new tools, extended OS support, and improved file organisation.

However, its release date is not expected until the second quarter of 2002.

New features listed on the Adobe site include:

  • Improved file browser
  • Healing brush
  • Transparency tools for web output
  • Spell checker for text layers
  • More web gallery templates
  • Pattern maker plug-in
  • Refreshed painting engine
  • Enhanced liquify tool
  • and the much awaited support for Mac OS X & Windows XP

While a preview or tour does not seem to be available on adobe.com, interested people can browse Digital Mastery's "The Ultimate Guide to Photoshop 7.0".

(Personally, I think this could be an upgrade to avoid.)
